Kimric Smythe
Kimric has worked at Burning Man since 1991.
He was part of the team that was
responsible for the fireworks
and engineering the burn
of the Man. He also worked with Larry Harvey and Dale Scott
on fire and safety issues in the early years.
He worked with his father on the
Drive by shooting range and made some of the early flame cannons
on the playa.
Art projects included “The
Pyro Man” which involved wearing hand made fireworks on pinwheels
while capering about. "The
Java Cow" was also one of his projects from 1993 to 2000,
and he may do it again this year. Other shenanigans included the
car hunt in 95 (on a nearby playa) flying fireworks and cameras
from kites (back when you could do that sort of thing), the pedestal
of Ozi ymandius and the Clock
Tower in 1999 among other things.
Kimric has also worked at SRL
since 1990.
He owns and operates Smythe’s
Accordion Center.
You can see Kimric naked in the recently published
SRL calendar benefit for Tim North which you are encouraged
to buy directly from SRL, but can pick one up at the store on your
way to or from the burn. All proceeds go directly to Tim's family.
