In high school I was friends with the great grand daughter of Rommel the Desert Fox. She told me a story then she had heard about Mussolini’s top secret rigid air ship program in the 1930′s. I did some research last year in preparation for a BM grant and found this incredible airship. Modeled after the German program with help from them. Their ship was much smaller and covered in a gold finish. A later discovery of the crew outfits was a wonderful surprise and of course they had surpassed the the German’s ten fold.

Golden Mean and the Zeppelini

Please join us for a night of dust free fun. The Golden Mean and my new Zeppelini will be there for your entertainment pleasure.

The drive for this build is an electric wheelchair. I’m able to quick release the motor and drop it out the bottom for service. It’s really fast and as you can see from the video it turns on a dime and clears a 16 foot space of any thing in it’s way.

One of the funnest things of the night were the steam punk wheel chairs we made from 1940′s airport fire extinguisher. I woke up at 2 am last night with a design to make them into giant tricycles. Stay tuned for those on the playa. Video

I built a charcoal BBQ some years ago and I hate how long it takes to fire up. I looked at new gas grills and thought I could just make one myself for a lot less. Here is the basics of how to convert one yourself. This could be applied to any charcoal grill, with a round fire ring a Webber could be converted as well.

What a great show! I love shows where art and craft meet and these artists are gifted in both. Wonderful use of real materials and humor. Look for Kathy Aoki  showing the “Tomb Room” and several other artifacts from the Gwen Stefani Archeological Dig ( 2468-2478 A.D.).

Zolie trying to hide from the Grannies. I think someone didn’t understand what Steampunk was when they hired the band and forgot the steam. They were great until they got shut down for being too loud. Nice to see good old fashion punk is still alive and well!
